If you are a margarita purist, please, look away now. I don’t have anything fancy to show you. I didn’t find this tequila on a trip to Mexico, I found it in the back of my parents’ dusty liquor cabinet (although it was quite nice actually). I did not hand-squeeze juice from my organic fruit selection, I bought frozen concentrate from the grocery store. My apologies, I know you expect more from me.
This is the margarita recipe that I often try to keep a secret, because as soon as you tell someone the ingredients, they will involuntarily squish up their nose and ask if maybe you have something else they can drink. That is, of course, until they take a sip of one. Then, every big-shot who swears they buy all of their groceries at Whole Foods will be racing out the door to stock up on frozen limeade and 7up.
See, this recipe is derived from The Sweet Potato Queens and their completely un-flashy, absolutely perfect recipes. Those ladies know what’s up. I’ve made a minor change to New Allison’s Mambo Margaritas and adding a raspberry twist, but I promise that the overall integrity (or lack of) has not been compromised.
Here are some reasons you should love these margaritas: you can keep all of these ingredients on hand and whip up a pitcher in about 30 seconds flat. Everyone will love them and think you’re fabulous. The proven side effects are good times and very loud laughter.
Oh yeah…and hangovers. My best advice is to sip slowly.
New Allison’s New Mambo Rasberry Margaritas
Inspired by the recipe in The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love
If you want to make plain margaritas, just use two frozen limeades and take out the rasberry one. You can also halve this recipe if you aren’t preparing these for a group.
1 can frozen limeade
1 can frozen raspberry lemonade
24 oz lemon-lime soda (I use 7up)
24oz light beer (I prefer Corona)
24 oz tequila
Mix everything together in a pitcher and serve over ice.
Note: do NOT try to make frozen margaritas with this recipe. Putting carbonated beverages in a blender is a really bad idea.

Any Margarita is a good Margarita! These look lovely! Kind of wish I had one right now!!
Made these for a work party tonight…BIG HIT:)
These look DELISH! I’m guessing no, but can you taste the beer in them? (I’m so glad I found your blog through a friend-through a friend-through a friend!)
no, definitely can’t taste the beer, it just cuts the sweetness. so glad you found me too!
It’s before noon, and I already want one! Love the glasses! Where did you find them?
oh man I have no idea. They were my friends glasses that we actually had to dust off before using, so who knows how long ago they bought them!
They look like something you’d find at Pier 1, but maybe not. I think the Pier 1 stuff like that has a more delicate look/feel. Still nice though
this reminds me of a cocktail i once made that contained wine and vodka. it tasted glorious, but then i died the next day.
Authentic or not, that looks very, very drinkable.
You just made my mind up on what to drink on my 21st on Saturday. Hopefully, I’ll be be able to sip slowly but I kinda doubt it. Holy yum!
I’m so excited to try these tonight! Do you know roughly how many servings this makes? There will be 4 of us and I’m trying to decide if I should half the recipe or not. Thanks so much for the recipe!
Kinda depends on how much fun you want to have, haha. I would recommend keeping the recipe as it is, but you might want to have a DD arranged
With half the recipe you’ll each get one, maybe two margaritas.
Haha…thank you so much for the quick response!! I’m on the way to the store right now!
