Important information that you need for this post to make sense: last week we had a home inspection that revealed that a wall of our living room has a leak going to the basement which has rotted some of the support beams. Therefore we have been avoiding putting any weight in the living room because the floor is sinking into the basement. Home ownership rules.
Meanwhile, I lost patience waiting for Chase to get our paint samples up on the walls and finally took it upon myself. I found a blank wall in our living room that I knew we would be painting anyway due to some existing damage, and painted little patches of the samples. Chase was upset when he found out because now we would, “need to paint the wall to cover them up,” and I was like, “well, we needed to cover it up anyway because the bottom of the wall is damaged,” and he was all, “but now we’re going to have a wall that just has random paint patches for the forseeable future,” and I stared at him like, “who gives a shit?” and he was like, “well people are gonna be coming in our house and it’s going to look weird,” and I was all, “Right, because even though this room is covered in our crap and THE FLOOR IS FALLING INTO THE BASEMENT, it really would be terrible to have some paint samples on the wall because that would BE EMBARRASSING.”
We have since agreed that our living room wall is hereby the “paint samples” wall until we have time to deal with it properly, AKA when the floor is actually able so support the weight of people who would judge us for bad paint samples.

I’m really torn between wanting to laugh, cry with you, or pat you on the shoulder. I think the last sentence is pushing me towards laughter. Good luck! I know this must be terribly frustrating & painful!
Wahaha! “It’s going to look weird.” Oh, nothing like stress to bring out the irrationallity of people. My sweetie wouldn’t let me paint the back of the shelves of our hutch (which we didn’t like anyway) with blue sky and clouds, because it “would make it hard to give away”, but she didn’t want me to actively try to give it away, because then we’d have no place for our stuff. Thankfully her brother has it now.
Actually, I could easily imagine a wall covered with a repeating pattern of those sample marks on Design Sponge. Suggest that and see if he twiches.
